Welcome to the Heart-to-Heart Listening Space
on the Camino de Santiago
What does it consist of?
It’s about helping you put your experience on the Camino into words, to open up and become aware of what your inner self is telling you. To begin with, you’ll be invited to keep a Camino journal or diary, in which you’ll write down your experiences, which will allow you to connect with your inner self.
To help you, we’ll send you some brief written guides, with questions, that will help you to delve a little deeper into your daily experience. Then, in subsequent meetings via video call, you’ll have the chance to share your thoughts and feelings with a volunteer, what you’ve experienced and felt on the Camino, and what you’ve reflected on in your Camino journal or diary.
What’s it for?
It’s about helping you answer two questions:
-
What am I looking for on the Camino?
-
What is the Camino giving me?
By verbalizing it and comparing it with someone else, you’ll become aware of what it is that truly concerns you and of what’s happening within you as you follow the Camino.
Who are we?
The Heart-to-Heart Listening Space is made up of a small group of volunteers, pilgrims from around the world with experience in accompaniment, who feel the need for understanding that pilgrims experience when they walk to Santiago.
We are supported at all times by the parish of San Juan Bautista in Grañón and the Diocese of Calahorra-La Calzada-Logroño.
Who can sign up?
Any pilgrim who is 16 years of age or older and can connect via video-call at some point along their journey.
How and when?
A volunteer will be available to listen to you for up to six meetings, each lasting an average of one hour, with a frequency of around five days.
Four meetings will take place while you are on pilgrimage, and then, once you have returned home, you will be offered up to two additional meetings to complete the experience.
The time of each meeting, as well as the video call platform, will be mutually agreed upon between the pilgrim and the volunteer.
In what language?
Currently, we offer this service to pilgrims in Spanish, English, French, Italian and Portuguese and we hope to extend the Listening Space to speakers of other languages soon.
How much does it cost?
This is a completely free service, offered by volunteers. We only ask for your commitment: just like during the physical stages, don’t abandon it at the first distraction or difficulty, and commit to writing regularly in your journal or diary.
Can I sign up even if I don’t finish the pilgrimage in Santiago?
Yes, although the number of meetings will be limited, depending on the number of days available.
Where do I start?
Once you enter your information in the following link, we will contact you by email to arrange a first meeting. (CHECK THAT THE EMAIL DOES NOT GO TO THE SPAN) If you also leave your phone number and we do not contact you by email we will do it by WhatsApp.
Your data will be fully protected.
